So today CootieGirl and CootieBoy are both over at our friend Deby’s house for a playdate with her two kids. It’s really more of a practice run since Deby will be taking over our daycare as of my return to work. I stopped by our current childcare facility to drop off the last check and pick up all of CootieGirl’s stuff, and they counter-offered to match Deby’s pay rate, which was tempting. They obviously love CootieGirl if they are willing to reduce their price by that much to keep her there.
However, after talking to Deby about it, I’ve decided to stay with Deby. I love the way she and her husband have raised her two girls (who are both slightly older CootieBoy and CootieGirl, respectively), and I think the one-on-one attention would be great for CootieGirl since she’s heading into a more tempermental stage in her toddlerhood.
So on Monday I’ll head back to the other childcare and break the news to them that we’ll be using Deby for at least the next six months. We’ll see what they say – hopefully they’ll be graceful about it and not make me feel awkward as I cart out all of CootieGirl’s things from her play area.
Jaynee, I have always had Jason with a sitter on a one-on-one basis. You are correct in saying the attention given is wonderful. They treat him like he is one of the family. The entire family treats him that way too!
Also prepare yourself of CootieGirl getting a little spoiled because of it! 🙂
I’ve done both and I have to say that I preferred it when my daughter was in the one on one situation. the only drawback that I found was that I had to make other arrangements when my babysitter’s kids got sick.
