Rather than wait for January 1, I am commiting to a variety of small 30-day (give or take) goals between now and May 24, 2007 when our family leaves for the big Disney Trip of 2008. They are all with the goal of losing some weight (30 pounds, to be exact) before the trip. I know myself well enough by now that if I tried to do all these at once I would absolutely fail no matter how hard I try. So instead I’m doing it in 4-week increments.
Starting today, I am committed to 30 days of NO EATING OUT. This means at work, ordering in from home, going someplace after church, etc. Absolutely no restaurant or fast food will be eaten in the next 30 days.
I just told L-Train that I was planning on beginning a new 30-day commitment every seven days – but that’s a LOT of things to come up with. So instead I’ll do it every two weeks, with LENT season being the exception.
Here’s the list I’ve come up with so far:
1. December 11 – January 11 : no eating out
2. December 25 – January 25 : no chocolate
3. January 8 – February 8 : no food after 9 p.m.
4. January 22 – February 22 : drink 75 fl oz of water a day
5. February 6 – March 22 (LENT SEASON) : No chocolate, no eating out, and no food after 9 p.m., run a minimum of one mile a day
6. March 23 – April 23 : no eating out
7. April 6 – May 6 : no chocolate
8. April 20 – May 24 : no food after 9 p.m.
9. May 4 – May 24 : drink 75 fl oz of water a day
10. May 18 – May 24 : No chocolate, no eating out, and no food after 9 p.m., run a minimum of one mile a day
This list may adapt some as I think of new things to do/give up. We leave May 24 for the vacation. I’m hoping that doing these small things will allow me to lose weight (I’d love to lose 30 pounds, but we’ll see).
Very smart that you aren’t biting off too much in one go. Baby steps. You CAN do it, with a little (change that to a lot) help from Above.
This is very cool…as “they” all say, it takes 21 days to make a habit! Plus, once you’ve put the commitment out there to the world, you’re sort of obligated to at least try to keep it…LOL.
GOOD LUCK! And, I might have to give this a shot, myself.
Stacy’s last blog post..So, Does She Just Like Me, Or Does She Like Me Like Me?
Stacy, I’ve taken it a step farther now – now I’m doing it for a whole year AND encouraging others to do it as well!
